Iron Cross First Class 1939.

This Iron Cross award is a First Class example. The semi-gloss black paint on the cross core rates 90% . There is some age crazing to the paint (lends a dignified look) with light surface spotting to the balance. The silver frame is nice, with light toning and some spots where the nickel silver is gone. The reverse has a rich, semi-shiny silver finish with toning to the spots where the plating is gone. The hinge functions well; the pin has a slim neck and a delicate outward flair at the center, and the tip seats securely in the catch. The cross has no visible manufacturers markings.Nice piece.
