Short metal container M36 pattern, green rubberized canvas and metal alloy construction gasmask with a tan suede lining to the interior edge and web and fabric covered spring straps and buckles. The metal alloy eye socket frames and snout both retain all their original fiel-grey paint and the snout has the embrossed, date "36". The clear celluloid eye socket lenses show light age yellowing. The exterior of the mask is well marked with a faint, black size inkstamp between the eye sockets. "2" indicating size medium. The mask comes complete with an early issue, stamped, multi-piece, magnetic sheet metal. The top edge of the filter is well marked with a black inkstamped waffenamt, the manufacturing date and the serial number. The filter retains about 90% of its original field-grey paint with small spots of wear to the base metal. The mask comes housed in an early, first pattern , short model, M30/36, corrugated magnetic sheet metal construction gasmask canister with a vertical brazed side seam. The canister retains about 80% of its original blue-grey paint.  Both the olive drab canvas web carrying strap and the belt support strap are included. Both of the straps also have their original, slip on, leather reinforcement panels intact. The box contains a cellophane wrapped package of replacement lenses with printed script to the cellophane.  Nice example in overall good condition.
